ABOUT

Time to Invent (TTI) is an after school outreach program run by female graduate students at the University of Washington pursuing PhDs in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. Our goal is to share our love of exploring and inventing the world around us with the next generation of students.

We do this by partnering with Northgate Elementary School in Seattle, WA to lead 3rd-5th grade girls in exploring diverse areas of science and engineering through engaging, hands-on activites. Once a year we host the "Encounter with Engineering" fieldtrip to the University of Washington campus that allows students to see engineers and scientists in action.

Our Mentors

All of the TTI mentors are women pursuing doctoral degrees (PhDs) and undergraduate degrees in science and engineering fields at the University of Washington including bioengineering, materials science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, genome sciences, chemical engineering, and aerospace engineering.

Our Funding

The TTI program is generously supported by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) collegiate chapter at the University of Washington.

Recent Activities:

Encounter with Enginering

Time to Invent students came to the University of Washington for a half-day field trip to tour labs and participate in hands-on activities. They got to view their own cheek cells under a microscope, and tour the biorobotics lab among other activities.
